Uniform

Uniform is an important part of dance, as the wrong attire can restrict movement and not allow the teacher to make proper corrections. Footwear is also essential and needs to fit correctly. All dance attire can be purchased at ‘Dance Stuff’ in East Gosford.

Elite Dance also stocks various embroidered shirts suitable for most class wear.

Please note that jeans, school uniforms, jewellery and bulky clothing are not appropriate for dance class wear.

Dance Class Requirements

'Little Ballerinas'

Jacaranda Leotard (purple) with skirt, salmon ballet tights or socks, canvas or leather full sole ballet shoes

Please note: Jiffies or socks are not suitable

Ballet

Leotard (specific styles and colours are required for each grade), ballet tights, canvas or leather ballet shoes.

Please note: Jiffies are not suitable, they are not ballet shoes and are a waste of money; ballet skirts are permitted in junior classes, but not required. No shorts are to be worn during ballet classes

Jazz, Contemporary and Modern

Leotard (black) or tight fitting top (Elite Dance tops are available for purchase), shorts or jazz pants, black jazz shoes for primary and junior jazz, jazz boots for intermediate, senior and advanced jazz. Bare feet are permitted for contemporary and modern dance only.

Tap

Leotard (black) or tight fitting top (Elite Dance tops are available for purchase), dance skirt or pants, black tap shoes

Hip Hop

Roomy dance pants and close fitting top, jazz shoes or skate shoes

Zumba

Comfortable and moveable exercise wear, jazz shoes, skate shoes or trainers

Please ensure hair is in a bun for ballet and neatly tied back in a ponytail for all other classes. Please do not turn up to any dance class with your hair out.

Ballet Exam Requirements

Pre-Primary  to Grade 1

Jacaranda R.A.D. approved leotard, leather full sole ballet shoes, pink ballet socks, black character skirt and shoes for Grade 1

Grade 2 to Grade 3

Cornflower blue R.A.D. approved leotard, leather full sole ballet shoes with elastic, salmon ballet tights, black character skirt and shoes

Grade 4 to Grade 5

Burgundy  R.A.D. approved leotard, leather full sole ballet shoes with ribbons,  salmon ballet tights, black character skirt and shoes with Cuban heal

Grade 6 to Grade 8

Deep purple ¾ sleeve leotard, leather or canvas ballet shoes with elastic, salmon ballet tights,  long deep purple ballet skirt, black character skirt and shoes with Cuban heal

Intermediate Foundation to Intermediate

Navy blue leotard with darts, salmon ballet tights, leather ballet shoes with ribbons, pointe shoes with ribbons. N.B. Intermediate candidates require satin demi-pointe ballet shoes with ribbons

Advanced Foundation to Advanced 2

Any leotard in black, navy blue or slate grey, salmon ballet tights, satin demi-pointe ballet shoes with ribbons, pointe shoes with ribbons

Please note that R.A.D approved leotards can only be purchased at a dance shop. We recommend ‘Dance Stuff’ in East Gosford for all exam requirements.
